Firestone Society

Mathey and Rockefeller Colleges are fortunate to host the Peter S. Firestone Society, which is affiliated with the Mathey-Rocky Library. Funded by a gift in memory of Peter S. Firestone ’62, the Firestone Society offers students the opportunity to engage in book discussions, to meet authors informally, and to have hands-on arts workshops related to the printed word. Some events are geared toward Society or college members, with others open to students across the University.  The Firestone Society also advises Mathey and Rocky on upgrading and maintaining the library collections and holdings. Society programs and activities include the following:

  • Lectures and readings periodically throughout the year, with related dinners, receptions, performances, and exhibits
  • Book group discussions
  • Workshops on creative writing, editing, bookmaking, storytelling, literacy, etc.
