FYRE (First Year Residential Experience)

The First Year Residential Experience (FYRE) is a coordinated set of programs and opportunities for first year students, framed to signal important community values related to:

  • Civility and Citizenship
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Inclusion and Belonging
  • Personal Growth and Development

Through FYRE opportunities for engagement, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of campus resources
  • Develop the skills to build meaningful relationships with peers that may hold identities and backgrounds that are different from their own
  • Engage in civil discourse with peers that have differing views than their own
  • Develop a sense of belonging within the residential college
  • Make informed decisions that enhance their personal health
  • Demonstrate an understanding of healthy options that contribute to risk reductions
