The First Year Residential Experience (FYRE) is a coordinated set of programs and opportunities for first year students, framed to signal important community values related to:
- Civility and Citizenship
- Health and Wellbeing
- Inclusion and Belonging
- Personal Growth and Development
Through FYRE opportunities for engagement, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of campus resources
- Develop the skills to build meaningful relationships with peers that may hold identities and backgrounds that are different from their own
- Engage in civil discourse with peers that have differing views than their own
- Develop a sense of belonging within the residential college
- Make informed decisions that enhance their personal health
- Demonstrate an understanding of healthy options that contribute to risk reductions
