Hi all! My name is Claudio Amaya, and I am a rising junior in the MAE department interested in sustainable energy and French. I was born in Los Angeles, but I was also raised in Bogota, Colombia and graduated high-school there. In my free time, I love playing soccer for the Men's Club team, dancing with Más Flow, and listening to music. I am beyond excited to be a PAA because I want to help all of you make a good and healthy transition to academic life at Princeton. I am very excited to meet y'all, so please feel free to reach out!
Hometown: Bogota, Colombia
Major: Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
Certificate(s): Sustainable Energy, French, Robotics
Favorite memory from my first year at Princeton: I have two very different ones! The first was having a club soccer practice in the middle of a snowstorm. A second is when my friends and I had a picnic in the Firestone Room in Roma Library on Dean's Date (it was a very bonding experience even if stressful).
Princeton class that shaped the way I think and why: ENE 475: Human Factors 2.0 - Psychology for Engineering, Energy, and Environmental Decisions. This class changed the way I think about how to understand and affect different decision processes. Specifically, prospect theory and query theory provided insights that I will continue to carry with me into my career.
