Bio/Description

Hi Rocky! My name is Shireen Amna Waraich and I’m from Islamabad, Pakistan. I’m a rising senior in the History Department pursuing a certificate in South Asian Studies. Outside of academics, I’m involved in the South Asian Progressive Alliance and the Pakistani Students Association, am an editor for the Prog, and am active in the Princeton Committee for Palestine! In my free time I enjoy reading, starting — but never finishing — crochet projects, and bullet journaling. Feel free to knock on my door for anything at all and I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Hometown:  Islamabad, Pakistan

Major:  History

Certificate(s):  South Asian Studies

Favorite memory from my first year at Princeton:  Finally being able to meet my Farsi professor in-person after two semesters of studying Persian online when she invited all of her students to celebrate Nowruz (Persian New Year) together outside Firestone.

Princeton class that shaped the way I think and why:  HIS 425: The History of Political Propaganda from the French Revolution. It was the first history seminar that I had taken and it fundamentally changed the way I saw media and information systems and provided an interesting parallel visual history to events that I had studied previously.
