Hi! My name is Sydney Hughes and I'm from Mahopac, New York. I'm a junior studying Chemical and Biological Engineering with a certificate in Sustainable Energy. Outside of the classroom, I'm a part of the Princeton Energy Association, Conservation Society, and gymnastics club. I love to go for runs, eat with friends, and attend events about sustainability. I'm so excited to meet you all, and feel free to reach out if you have questions about anything!

Princeton class that has shaped the way I think: CHV 321: Ethical and Scientific Issues in Environmental Policy. Before this class I had thought about conservation and the environment as a black and white picture: saving nature is good, harming it is bad. But this course showed me that it's not so straightforward, and we have to think about the overall impacts of policy, even if it is for a good cause.
Favorite memory from first year at Princeton: My favorite memory from my first year is participating in an informal arch sing with a group of friends to celebrate the anniversary of the song Take Me Home, Country Roads. So many people showed up to sing along with us, and it was such a fun moment of community.
